May is Celiac’s awareness month!

This month is dedicated to raising awareness about Celiac’s disease. It is estimated IMG_2999that 3 million people in the US have it yet only 10% are diagnosed. That means 90% of people are walking around with various, painful symptoms and are unaware that they have this disease.

One reason it is so hard to diagnose is that many people don’t realize they are having symptoms from what they are eating. They are quite varied in degree and type so many health professionals will miss this as something to test for.

Some symptoms are:

  • Anemia
  • Brain fog
  • Depression
  • Headaches/Migrane
  • Bloating
  • Gas
  • Lactose intolerance

This disease can be confusing to diagnose and even more confusing to navigate once you know. It isn’t just food you have to beware of– it is also lotions, shampoos + conditioners, makeup and more.
